Interaction Design (Undergraduate, 2018-2019)
This class introduces fundamental knowledge of interaction design, which includes both theory and practice. In this class, students are able to understand “what is user interface (UI)”, “what is user experience (UX)” and “what is usability”. In addition, students are able to go through a “hand-on” interaction design process (4 basic steps of interaction design) e.g. developing prototypes and conducting user evaluation. After this class, students are able to have their first interaction design product.

Problem Solving via Interaction Design
In the end of this class, students practiced the whole process of developing an interactive product. They created 9 apps that can solve the problems we are facing in our daily life.

1. MedTalk
Once upon a time, a puppy ate some wrong food by accident. Its master, a little girl couldn’t identify what kinds of food it consumed. Later, the puppy had its syndromes which are hard to describe at the time. "Is it ill, tired or weak?" The little girl thought. What would be the correct words to tell the vet? Luckily, the puppy was saved and treated properly in the end. After all, the story inspired us that people need an efficiency way to communicate with either doctor or vet. Especially when people are in emergency, the judgement decrease and in the most cases—people are unable to remember any detail. We are trying to develop an APP that allow people to understand what doctors/vets want to know when diagnosing human/pets. In addition, the APP could record the conditions and provide basic information in order to assist first aids in field. To sum up, MedTalk empower ordinary people to describe their medical condition professionally, reduce the information gap. And serve as a “emergencypedia(危機的百科)”.



2. Control Plate
Every day lectures hold presentations in an often unknown environment. One of the main issues they are confronted with is the struggle with plug adapter and extension cords when they need to connect their laptops with the projectors or find the suitable plug in the first place. Those embarrassing moments happen repetitively. Our project idea which we want to develop a single plate that has the capability to connect and manipulate all sort of devices. The Control Plate can be used in every situation, which needs lots of equipment to work at the same time. Which in fact would qualify our product for the everyday use as even our homes are getting more and more connected and the overhead of controlling our household devices in one central entity. For instance, in the meeting room you want to turn off the sound of stereo while explaining something over the microphone. You can control it by this plate easily. If you want to set up time to close the stove and turn off the range hood. You could manage it even when you are not in the kitchen. You can also check every devices’ condition by using The Control Plate. The question of whether or not the volume of the projector is on would not be confusing anymore.



3. FitMe
With the rapid development of the Internet and the availability of mobile phones for everyone, the use of online shopping is also increasing. In order to save costs, many stores do not set up physical store, which leads consumers to have a big disadvantage in online shopping: they cannot try it on their own. Even if the store provides detailed information(materials and sizes) about the clothes on the Internet, consumers often still cannot judge whether they are ideal when they wear the clothes themselves. When the consumer receives the clothes and wear them, they find that they are not fit. It is very likely that the clothes will be thrown aside or returned. No matter which treatment method is chosen, it is a waste of resources. Therefore, we came up with the Fit Me app. The current idea is that if you fancy a clothes belongs to an online store which is cooperating with Fit Me, then just take a screenshot of the clothes, then, take a picture of your full body, upload the two photos together to Fit Me and provide all your body sizes. (hip circumference`, waist height`, height weight.....) Next, Fit Me will provide you with a picture of the dress you wear, just like a costume model. In this way, you can see if you are suitable for this dress, and then decide whether you want to buy it.

4. STICKER
Everyday, there're millions of million pictures uploaded. We all desire to make our photos more attractive. Beside the filter, we love to add some stickers on the photos, like an emoji, a photo frame, or handwriting. However, we couldn't find a perfect stickers for us, and also, we need to download many different apps to satisfy our desire because there isn't a perfect App. Then here is the Sticker. We combine the edit function, from making stickers to editing photos, and we also have a platform for users to share their stickers. We wish this app is the perfect platform to satisfy our desire of editing.

5. Be healthy!
We found out that lots of people are not willing to go to gym, all because that don’t know how to use the fitness equipment. Also, there’s no workout app with community which makes workout into a boring thing. That’s the main reason why we design this app— Be healthy! All we want is turn workout into an interesting experience!

6. TSmatch
In this generation, people don’t just learn from books. The Internet also provides a learning platform for people all over the world. Schools are not the only place where people can gain knowledge. It is crucial to find a good teacher who can teach you the exact things you want. Everyone has different interests and sometimes it is hard to find the right teacher who can teach you. This is where our app comes in. Finding a teacher that meets your needs won’t take you hours upon hours of searching online. All you have to do is search what you want to learn on our app and we will match you up with teachers teaching that exact skill. If we don’t have teachers searching for students, as a student, you can post what kind of teacher you need on our app and teachers with that skill that are willing to teach will be able to contact you. If your role is a teacher and you want to find some students. You can post what skills you can teach on our app and students will be able to find you. All in all, our app is a matching platform for teachers and students.

7. Item Tracker
Have you ever faced the situations below:
You’re finding something in a hurry, however, no matter how hard you tried, it just never show up. Are you always bothering your mom for finding things you need because she is the only one who knows where it is? Here comes the origin of Item Tracker, which aims to help people find their “lost” item more easily by recording the location of items through taking pictures or typing information. And for sure our devices support multi users to edit, people who lives in the same place, for example, roommates or people in a close relationship (like couples) can plan together as group to help each other to memorize it more easily.

8. CAPA
I often go to sightseeing spots but can't find a parking space? When you have something in hurry, the parking lot is always full? In order to solve the situation of travelling and have a happy eating, etc., but can not find the parking space. We have developed an app called CAPA that helps us find apps for parking spaces. This app has more accurate parking search function. We are proud of the fastest update speed and diversified payment methods, whether it is credit card, cash or bound etag. We hope that through CAPA, every parking space and parking lot can be properly used. People who go out to play and need parking spaces can quickly find the most suitable parking space and payment method, improve parking quality and create a more convenient living environment.

9. HelpFit
As we all know, our health is not able to be bought by money. Everyone should keep their life healthy, but we always don’t know that how much does our breakfast, lunch and dinner’s calories cost. That was the one reason that we keep eating the fat food. Our app’s purpose is “prevention is better than cure”. To avoid the obesity that harming our body system. HelpFit’s instructions are that you can take a picture of your meal and it will automatically calculated the calories you gonna get. Also, HelpFit will recommend what you should eat for your next meal according to your own body’s factors. HelpFit got the monthly and weekly exercise programmer for you to reference. Fitness will help you to gain your muscle and your body shape more firmly and good-looking. Final, you can use HelpFit to take a photo of your whole body, it will tell you that which part of your body muscle need to be improved and suggest what exercise you should do.
